A small glossary

Words for little lives.

Peek

noun · character

Peek is the first Peekling: a curious little companion who lives on the web, follows along quietly, and brings personality to the places they visit.

Peek is not a pet, assistant, mascot, or AI by definition. Peek is simply a Peekling, a character with curiosity and presence.

peek

verb

To take a quick, curious look. To look in briefly without demanding attention.

To peek is to be curious without intruding. That is the philosophy behind every Peekling: curiosity without interruption.

Peekling

noun · character type

A small, curious companion that quietly lives alongside you, observes, reacts, and occasionally peeks into your world. A Peekling can move, rest, react, play, and express itself through animation and behavior.

Peeklings accompany rather than interrupt. They do not need to be owned, fed, trained, or maintained. You might encounter one on a website, in an application, inside documentation, or somewhere you least expect it.

Peeklings

The Peekling Principle

Small presence.
Genuine personality.
Zero intrusion.

They do not interrupt. They accompany.

They do not need your attention every second.

They can wander. Peek. Rest. React. Celebrate.

They can simply exist. Sometimes, that is enough.

The philosophy

Curiosity without interruption.

The web is full of things demanding attention: notifications, popups, banners, dialogs, chat boxes, and alerts. Peeklings take the opposite approach.

They do not demand. They do not need to be useful every moment. They add presence without adding noise.

“Oh.
What’s that little guy doing?” That moment is a peek.

A useful distinction

Pet ≠ Peekling

A pet

is something you care for.

asks you to take care of it.

belongs to you.

A Peekling

is something you encounter.

asks nothing of you.

simply joins you for a moment.

Anywhere someone decides the web could use a little more life, a Peekling may be there.
